I can now offer schoolmaster lessons on an Advanced Dressage horse. She will give you the feel for the lateral work, tempi changes and even passage. Brilliant for developing your skills, learning new ones and most of all for having fun!
Gosh it has been a long time since I updated this blog. Mainly due to a very busy time with the dressage shows - I have just organised and ran a 3 day Festival which was a major success - worth all the hard work!
Oz remains sound and is in work.
I have taken on a few more clients and they are all (new and old!) doing exceedingly well, great to see such progress.
I spent some days last week at Wellington Premier League to do some judge training, observing and supporting some friends who were riding. Roland competed in a variety of classes and did an amazing Pas De Deux with Anna Ross-Davis to Barbie Girl and Womaniser- Inspired!
Well some of my clients have been out and about at various competitions with lots of sucess!
On Saturday Amanda and Soldier went out and WON the prelim with a brilliant 72% - great stuff -well done the hard work is paying off.
Today Alison and Eta went out for the 2nd time ever and WON the prelim with 67.9% - congratulations to Alison as she has worked so hard and stayed so dedicated during difficult times.
Also Lesley and George competed again today and did really well coming 3rd with 65.6% - well done Lesley (and George!)
Some of my clients have reached milestones recently and are doing well in competition. It is brilliant to see everyone doing so well.
Alison took Eta (her tricky ride ) to her first dressage competition and achieved a good score in her first ever test. Well done Alison- such amazing progress.
Lesley and George contested Mattingly Event and pulled off their best dressage test, even in the heat. Onwards and upwards.
Sara and Baley recently won an elementary with 73% and continue to do brilliant work.
Hailey and Meeka won their affiliated Novice and was 3rd in the Elementary class, which now see's them able to compete at the area festivals. They continue to crack the more advanced work at home.
And Sharon who has had the most awful luck and found a lovely young KWPN horse and is working on getting to know each other before starting to compete next month. Good luck Sharon and Pico.
I have just realised that I haven't updated this blog for some time.
Oz against all odds had made a recovery and at the moment is sound. His loaner is bringing him back into work slowly but we are crossing our fingers that he remains sound.
My friend called this morning to say there was pus. I called the vets who said to be careful as can just be a thrushy foot, not actual pus. Went to see him this afternoon and there was definate pus near the heels and on either side of the frog, not gushing but if you wipe it clean it will come back. Can't find the source but seems to be coming out. He wasnt pointing, was fully weight bearing and while still lame to jog up wasn't as lame as yesterday. Not sure what to feel, bit of an emotional rollercoaster.
My friend called again this evening to say more pus (more than earlier) on poultice tonight.
Fingers crossed, but such a mass of emotions having got so close and just waiting for him to go lame again.
So will reassess tomorrow and see where we go from there.
Well Oz's loaner called on Monday to say he didn't feel right when she had ridden on Monday, not lame but reluctant to go forward and to canter. I went the following day and he looked fine in walk and not forward (but not lame in left trot) but the right trot looked odd. I jumped on and he felt awful in walk and after a couple of short burst of trot felt lame in front and not right behind.
Ran him in hand and he looked lamer. Called the vet who was in the area and he came within 20 minutes or so, Oz was worse when trotted and about 5 minutes after trotting was pointing his foot.
No pain on hoof testers, but a pulse which was never there last year during all his troubles. Vet said pulse could be infection (i.e pus in the foot) or could be inflammation (i.e his injuries flaring up). He said it didn't look good but to poultice anyway for 48 hours. So fearing the worst I started to make plans even in just in my head. Would reassess tomorrow, but called a friend who could be with him on Friday.
